I no longer provide in-person psychotherapy & counselling on Harley Street as I now predominantly reside in Auckland, New Zealand. However, if you would like to explore therapy online - you can find out more below and how to book in an initial session with me. Please note - I work NZ mornings/ UK evenings.

Hello & Welcome.

There can be many reasons for seeking support. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, feeling overwhelmed or questioning the direction of your life - therapy offers a non-judgemental space to work through the challenges of life.

As someone who has been both a client and now a therapist, I have experienced the benefit of talking with someone who's neither a colleague, friend or family member. They can sometimes offer well intentioned support whilst assuming that they know how we feel and be quick to offer advice.

Therapy isn’t about assumptions or advice. It’s about having a supportive and confidential space to explore why your life feels like it does and offers hope for change. It’s also is a safe space to explore doing life differently and helps you to gain clarity on your needs, wants and desires.

I hope that every person I work with will reach a place where they are able to flourish.

A little about me.

Psychotherapy is my second career. I spent over a decade working in the feature film and television industry in both London and Los Angeles. I have lived in the USA and Ghana and I also have family in the United Kingdom and New Zealand so understand the challenges of living with long-distance family support.

I’m married and have a daughter. I became a parent during COVID-19 lockdown in London and experienced Paternal Post-natal depression as a result of that.

I identify as Neurodiverse with a diagnosis of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and was one of the first people to be diagnosed in the UK. I also identify as pansexual, meaning that I experience attraction towards people regardless of their biological sex or gender identity.

Alongside being a therapist, I’m an accredited ICF Professional Coach and Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

I am a registered member of and adhere to the BACP code of ethics. I qualified with a Post-Graduate Diploma (level 7) at The Minster Centre, the UK’s leading training institute for Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy.

What therapy is like with me

I work in both an Integrative and Relational way:

  • ‘Integrative’ means that I draw from a variety of different therapeutic approaches. Every one of us is unique and so my approach matches that to meet your personal needs.

  • Being ‘Relational’ reflects my belief that we can heal and grow  through a trusting relationship. The trust serves as a healthy model for future relationships with others as well as yourself.

I see clients on a weekly basis, usually on the same day at the same time.

Whether you’re looking for brief or longer-term therapy, my intention is that you can understand your own wants and needs as well as discover not just who you’ve become, but new ways of living. It's my hope that each client I work with can understand and use their natural strengths and abilities to flourish in life.

Past clients have described me as warm, understanding, affirming and respectfully challenging.

I offer a Neurodiverse and LGBTQI+ inclusive space.

Who do I work with?

I have had the privilege of working with a wide variety of client presentations, including:

Depression, anxiety, self-worth, work-related stress, Neurodivergence (inc ADHD, Autism & HSP), sexuality, gender, physical illness (inc cancer), trauma, life transitions & retirement, Boarding School Syndrome, and relationship difficulties.

I have also worked with many clients in the creative industries such as actors, dancers, singers, directors, designers and musicians.

Book an initial session.

To ensure that you feel comfortable and confident in making the right choice of a therapist, I offer an initial session which lasts 50 minutes. During this time, we can discuss what brings you into therapy and any possible hopes.

The initial session is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have and I will talk with you about how we may be able to work together to best support you.

The fee for this session is £85.

Support for online sessions

Not sure whether online or face-to-face would be best for you? There are many reasons why online therapy may be the right option for you.

Online therapy can feel quite different to traditional face-to-face sessions and it may take some getting used to. With this in mind, here are some practical tips to help support a positive online therapy experience:

  • SOFTWARE: Before our first session, please ensure you have an up-to-date version of Zoom downloaded, with an active account set up on your computer or smartphone. Prior to our first session, I will send you a private Zoom link to access our sessions each week.

  • ROOM: Think about the space you’ll be using for your session. Make sure you feel comfortable and that it’s a confidential space where you’re able to talk openly. Please also consider:

    • Using headphones to help with focus and confidentiality.

    • Closing any windows and doors and turning off background music.

    • If you’re using your smartphone, place it somewhere secure so you don’t have to hold it for the entire session.

  • INTERNET: Ensure you have a good internet connection and strong Wi-Fi signal. The following can slow your connection, including use by others in your household on their devices:

    • Streaming (i.e. Netflix or Amazon Prime).

    • Online video gaming.

    • Running updates or installing software.

    • Multiple web browser pages or software being open.

My FAQ below provides more information which you may find helpful.

FAQs

  • A: Finding the right therapist for your journey is very important. I offer an initial consultation which provides you with the opportunity to meet with me and decide if you feel comfortable and confident in continuing your therapy with me. During this consultation, you can share what brings you to therapy and ask me any questions you may have. We can discuss how we might work together and how I can best support you. Please ensure you read my Terms & Conditions before your initial consultation. If we decide to work together, I’ll provide a copy for us both to sign.

  • A: My therapeutic approach integrates both Counselling and Psychotherapy. Counsellors and Psychotherapists both provide a space for people to explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences. Counselling tends to focus on more specific problems whereas Psychotherapy can address deeper underlying issues that may be unfamiliar as well as unprocessed.

  • A: I’m able to work with you on a wide range of issues including, and not limited to: Depression, Anxiety, Grief & Bereavement, Relationship Difficulties, Trauma, Abuse (Physical, Emotional, Sexual), Loss, Spiritually, Self-Esteem, Self-Worth, Self-Confidence, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Dissociative Disorders, Anger, Bullying, Identity, Race, Sexuality, Gender, Stress, Career & Work Related Issues, Cancer, Illnesses, and Ex-Boarders (Boarding School Survivors).

  • A: Most contemporary talking therapies today have their roots in the ideas of Psychoanalysis. Having undertaken an Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy training, this approach aims to draw from and integrate many of the different approaches that have emerged. Your experiences, feelings and process are unique to you, so I tailor these approaches to offer the best support to you. The approaches that underpin my work include Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Gestalt, Attachment & Neuropsychotherapy. Where appropriate, I also use meditation, grounding and awareness techniques as well as Mindfulness to support you.

  • A: No, I don’t give advice, tell you what to do or judge you in any way. The aim of Counselling & Psychotherapy is to help you come to your own decision(s). Only you know how you feel in any given situation. I might sum up what I understand you have been saying so that I can best support you in your situation.

  • A: I offer three kinds of sessions, short-term (6-20 sessions), long-term and online therapy. Often it can be hard to predict how many sessions you may need at the start. Once therapy has begun, new thoughts and feelings can emerge that you may feel needs more time and attention. If this is the case, your therapy may continue for longer than you initially expected. However, for some people having a specific number of sessions booked from the start is helpful. We can then have a ‘review’ session towards the end of these sessions to decide whether or not to extend therapy. If you decide to end your therapy we will work together on an ending. For long-term therapy I work on 4-6 weeks’ notice for ending therapy.

  • A: Before attending the Initial Consultation, you may find it helpful to make a note of the reasons for seeking therapeutic support. This may help you describe your feelings while we are getting to know each other. You’re free to talk about anything that is on your mind, no matter how large or small. Quite often people find themselves saying things they had not expected to say. That is more than OK and I will always help you explore these feelings.

  • A: I charge a full session fee if you miss any sessions. Holiday breaks require four weeks’ notice. Please read my Terms & Conditions for full details. I will always try to find alternative times to make up for the sessions missed during your breaks.

  • A: Yes. The contract between us is strictly confidential. I won’t disclose any information to a third party. The only exception is if I’m obliged by law to do so or if I believe there is a threat to your own safety or to the safety of others. If I need to disclose information for these purposes, I would discuss this with you first. My governing body, the BACP require me to have appropriate supervision for all clients. All client details are kept anonymous during supervision. In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR), any records of sessions are confidential and held in a secure and encrypted manner.

  • A: Fees are paid via a credit or debit card and processed using Stripe. This will be set up at the start of our working relationship.

  • A: I’m more than happy to answer any questions and queries you may have. It can be nerve-racking thinking about booking to see a therapist and it’s natural that you may have lots of questions. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions not listed here or wish to discuss anything further.
